Verse of the Year

A little while back, Jessi Connelly from Naptime Diaries asked me if I would be interested in selecting a verse for their Verse of the Year project. To say I was excited would definitely be an understatement. Jessi has been an inspiration to me in this blogging/entrepreneur journey. She is a mom of four, a successful business owner, a motivational speaker, but most important she has a love for the Lord that is so real, fresh, and challenging all at the same time. We need more women like that. Am I right?

My sheer excitement was quickly followed by an immense sense of pressure. I’ve always informally picked out a verse of the year for myself, but never hung it on my  wall or let alone announced to anyone outside of my closest friends. That meant accountability. And we all know that accountability means getting out of your comfort zone and getting out of your comfort zone means, well, ‘no thank you.’  Who wants to be held to their lofty goals?…Those that want to reach them. That’s who! So this year I am announcing my verse of the year and allowing you to hold me accountable to it.

This year I chose Ephesians 3:20. To remember and believe in every situation that our God is able. These past couple of years have been some of the most challenging, yet rewarding years. I became a mom and I started my own business. Two things I had not previously planned on doing, yet God made it SO clear to me that this is exactly where he wanted us and that he had a perfect plan in store. We needed only to trust him. Since then God has been stretching me well beyond my comfort zone, opening up doors that I would have never imagined before, and reminding me that his plan is far superior than my own. From a girl who used to be more reserved, who liked to snuggle up with security, God has brought me to a place where I’m more confident in taking risks, allowing God to do big things. Throwing fear out the window and believing that he is able!

I love having this print in our home. Such a sweet reminder! Crazy how many times I stop to read it and am instantly encouraged. Here are a few of my favorite pics of Olive and me from this year. I’m still amazed to step back and look at everything God has done in my life and see just how much he has provided for my daughter and me.

My little helper who enjoys assisting on all of our photo shoots. Her job is to make us laugh. She was made for this job.

First thing we do every time we check into a new hotel room is jump on the beds until we dissolve into a pile of giggles. Hotel beds were made for jumping on, right?

Most days you can find Olive sitting right here at her craft table. This girl lives for anything art!

Nerf Wars. She was our team captain. She literally was the best player on the team. She’s got serious spunk!

Gosh, I love her!

This summer at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
