Wedding Registry Tips

Tis the season to get engaged {or married} in my case! So for all of my newly engaged friends I thought I would share a few tips & tricks when it comes to your wedding registry.

Registering was one of the things that Danny & I were looking forward to the most in our wedding planning process. He couldn’t wait to play with “the guns” and I couldn’t wait to start decorating our house…(that we didn’t have yet). It was a sure win for both of us, right? What we didn’t know was just how overwhelming the next several hours was going to be, ha! (Ps- this picture below was taken before we started with all of our excitement…we didn’t take an after pic) 😉

So today I’m sharing a few tips to know to help when you go register as well as some of this year’s must have items!

  1. Picking Stores – I highly recommend picking only 2-3 stores, max 4. First start at the larger department stores like Crate & Barrel, Macys, Target, Neiman Marcus, or Bed, Bath & Beyond where you can get most of your essential items. Then after that, add one specialty store to add in a few fun “wish” items that are more decorative and playful! (I picked Anthropologie!)

  2. Style – When it comes to choosing style, I recommend classic for majority of your items. You want them to be timeless pieces that you will use for many years.  When in doubt, choose white. After you have your essential pieces taken care of then you can pick the fun pieces.

  3. Place Settings – Let’s just say, you’ll need more than you think! This is actually very important. Often times people think they only need 4-6 place settings, but the recommended amount is 10-12. You want to think about the times that you will be entertaining for friends & family and you want to have enough matching place settings for everyone. Plus if you’re going to be entertaining a lot, you might want to think about registering for a few back up pieces (especially in glassware) in case of breakage or discontinuation of your line later on.

  4. Space – Think about how much space you will have in your future home. Sure, it’s fun to register for that dream grill, but if you don’t have the backyard for it yet, you probably want to wait.

  5. Other Fun Registries to Think About: Anthropolige, Sur La Table, NewlyWish, Simple Registry, Deposit A Gift
